Rough estimate of costs (May 2013)

The costs that I had lately, or that I have at the moment are around:

  • 2.96 €/kg => for a TB with ~ 90 g of resin, 0.27 €/TB (for an induction TB with ~ 135 g of resin, 0.4 €/ITB)
  • 22.7 €/kg for rose quartz => about 2000 stones (4-8 mm) per kg => 0.011 €/TB (one stone par TB)
  • 14.6 €/kg for the transparent/white quartz => about 1500 stones (5-10 mm) per kg => 0.0097 €/TB (one per TB)
  • 30 €/kg of color pigment allowing me to make approx 300 TBs => 0.1 €/TB
  • 3.49€ for 10 sanding papers => 100 TBs per paper => 0.0035 €/TB
  • 1.1€/kg for the aluminium => about 10g of aluminium per TB, 0.011 €/TB (around 15g per ITB, 0.016 €/ITB)
  • 3.83€ for a tape roll => about one tape for 60 TBs => 0.064 €/TB
  • 13€ for 10 m x 1.5 m of bubble wrap, 1.45 € per cardboard box of 30 x 30 x30 cm => it’s hard to be precise because there are also other packing materials, but I can approximately estimate packaging (tape excluded) at 0.7 €/kg for small orders (< 5 kg), 0.3 €/kg for medium (< 10 kg) and 0.15 €/kg for orders over 10kg.
  • 118.4€ for 200m of double HP wire (for induction TBs) => 400m of single wire, about 10 cm per ITB => 0.03 €/ITB

With these above costs (without including the variable packaging, italic) I can calculate costs of:

  • Sanded TB without colour: 0.27 + 0.011 + 0.0097 + 0.0035 + 0.011 + 0.064 ~ 0.37 € (or gifting TB, without sanding (- 0.0035)… ~ 0.365 €)
  • Sanded TB with colour: 0.41 + 0.1 ~ 0.47 €
  • Induction TB: 0.4 + 0.011 + 0.0097 + 0.0035 + 0.016 + 0.064 + 0.03 ~ 0.535 €

I also have to add taxes, which until august 2013 will only be of 14.3%, then will increase to 20.6% in august 2014 and lastly reach 26.3% in august 2015. This will force me to increase prices sooner or later anyway. I must also add that with my company status (auto entrepreneur) being what it is, I have to pay these taxes on shipping prices! Since I have around 300-500€ of shipping costs every month for orders going through me, I have to pay 24.6-41€ per month of taxes on that, I have to pass that price on orgonites. By making an average of 32.8€ per month, for about 1500 orgonites per month, that makes 0.022€ that I have to count per each orgonite (by counting 1500 orgonites, I count cloudbusters as being equivalent to 100 TBs..).

Including packaging at the highest cost, 0.7€/kg, which is mostly the case as most orders are below 5kg, that makes:

  • 10 TBs per kg => 0.07 €/TB
  • 6 TBis per kg => 0.11 €/TBi

To which I add 0.022€ (per TB and ITB) for the passing on of shippign taxes on which I have to pay 8.2% for the time being.

We get:

  • Sanded TB without colour: 0.37 + 0.07 + 0.022 ~ 0.46 € (or gifting TB: 0.365 + 0.07 + 0.022 ~ 0.46 € )
  • Sanded TB with colour: 0.46 + 0.1 ~ 0.56 €
  • Induction TB: 0.535 + 0.11 + 0.022 ~ 0.67 €

There are many other costs to add.

  • printing cartridges
  • heating (wood) to keep the workplace at around 20°C, in winter it’s a lot!
  • electricity (sanding, lightning, air compressor, washing machine, etc.)
  • petrol (to go to the post and to go buy materials)
  • visit cards, website hosting, domain name
  • equipment (gloves, protection masks, cartridges for the masks to replace…)
  • acetone, paper rolls, towels
  • replacing the moulds

For these it’s hard to calculate the price per orgonite…

Ignoring these costs, hard to estimate, I can deduct that I earn about:

  • Sanded TB without colour sold at 1.5 €, j’ai 1.5 – 8.2% – 0.46 ~ 0.92 €
  • Sanded TB with colour sold at 1.6 €, j’ai 1.6 – 8.2% – 0.56 ~ 0.91 €
  • gifting TB sold at 1 €, j’ai 1 – 8.2% – 0.46 ~ 0.46 €
  • Induction TB sold at 2.7 €, j’ai 2.7 – 8.2% – 0.67 ~ 1.81 €

I still have to add all the ignored costs above, i’ll spare you the math, I’d have to describe how much I use of each per year for a total of X orgonites sold to make an estimation per orgonite.

To make around 50 TBs (colour or not, that doesn’t change much in the time taken) I need around 3h by taking my time to do it well (pouring, sanding, dusting and cleaning with acetone), then I spend around 10min to pack 10, print the bill, cutting the bubble wrap, taping etc.

In short for 50 TBs I can add another good hour for packaging, so 4h total, so for 50 TBs on which I earn approx ~ 0.9€/TB, I have around 45€ per 4h, or 11.25€/h.

To make about 150 induction TBs, without going into the details, I need around 20h (of which almost 8h to cut/strip/bend the HP cables) of work to get to wrapped and ready to ship orgonites, for ~ 1.8€/ITB, I have around 270€ for 20h, or around 13.5€/h.

For cloudbusters I have a margin of around 40-50€ per cloudbuster for 3-4h spent on making it until it’s packaged/done, around 3h for a base only and 4h for a complete one, packaging takes me a good hour for that one! Which makes about 16.6€/h (50€ / 3h) to 10€/h (40€ / 4h) depending on the cloudbuster etc.

But there are still all other costs missing and also the time I spend answering emails, because i like doing it well and taking the necessary time to try and inform as best as I can and also try to (it takes time!) add content on the website etc.

I’m globally at 8-10€/h in the end so my prices seem correct for the moment.
